My 2025 Women’s Day Experience

Today I attended a Coffee and Networking Event with many beautiful ladies from Ethiopia and other countries. It was a very eye opening event to see so many women who are mothers, working full-time, doing multiple side businesses and hustles, yet still coming together to connect and bring value to the community.

As an ice breaker, we randomly picked out a stick that had a question we had to answer as we went around introducing ourselves. The question I received was what is a legacy you wish to leave behind? I am terrible at answering questions on the spot, but I had an answer because there was a life goal that I had always started to form since I was young and it somehow fit perfectly with Women’s Day. =]

The legacy I want to leave behind is a group of at least 100 women who are financially free, meaning earning at least $100,000 a month through Atomy so that they can empower other women and bring change to the community with their special talents. I grew up under a single-mother, and I have seen the struggles she faced. I have the utmost respect for her because she never gave up on raising me and educating me. I believe it couldn’t have been done unless there were the other inspiring women around her and the church community to support her and of course the Lord guiding us.

I had never really celebrated Women’s Day before, but today was truly a special day for me to be able to connect with such wonderful ladies and also rethink about my life goals!

What is International Women’s Day?

Every year, on March 8th, the world comes together to celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD)—a day dedicated to recognizing the achievements of women across all sectors and advocating for gender equality. This day is not just about acknowledging the progress that has been made but also about reinforcing the commitment to breaking barriers that hinder women from reaching their full potential.

For me, International Women’s Day is more than just a celebration. It represents a vision, a dream of empowering women so they can achieve financial freedom. It is my dream to see women not just providing for their families but also driving change in their communities, their countries, and the world. Financial freedom gives women the power to make choices, to break free from limitations, and to uplift those around them. In this blog post, I want to delve into the importance of financial empowerment for women, the challenges they face, and the steps we can take to create a future where women are truly independent and capable of shaping the world around them.

Why Women’s Financial Freedom Matters

1. Breaking the Cycle of Poverty

Women, particularly in developing countries, are often the most affected by poverty. They are more likely to be underpaid or forced into informal employment with little to no job security. When women gain financial independence, they break the generational cycle of poverty. They invest in their children’s education, healthcare, and better living conditions, ensuring a brighter future for the next generation.

2. Strengthening Communities

A financially empowered woman doesn’t just uplift herself—she uplifts her entire community. Studies have shown that women reinvest up to 90% of their income into their families and communities, compared to men, who reinvest about 30-40%. Women who have the means to support themselves contribute to local economies, create businesses, and generate employment opportunities, fostering overall economic growth.

3. Increasing Gender Equality

Financial independence helps women escape situations of abuse and exploitation. Economic dependence has often kept women trapped in abusive relationships or exploitative work conditions. When a woman has financial freedom, she has the power to make decisions for herself and her family, standing against oppression and inequality.

4. Driving Global Change

Women make up half the world’s population, yet they remain underrepresented in leadership and decision-making roles. When more women gain financial control, they are able to influence policies, advocate for social change, and participate in governance. Financially empowered women become agents of change, transforming not only their own lives but also shaping their communities and their countries.

My Dream: A Future Where Women Are Financially Free

It is my dream to see more women rise up, take control of their finances, and transform their lives. Financial freedom is not just about wealth—it’s about opportunity, security, and the ability to make choices that align with one’s values and aspirations.

I believe that when women achieve financial independence, they create a ripple effect of positive change. They educate their children, lift their communities out of poverty, invest in social causes, and drive economic growth. A world where more women are financially free is a world that thrives in equality, innovation, and prosperity.

Happy International Women’s Day! I hope to keep pushing forward, inspiring, and creating change—one financially empowered woman at a time.
